This year I plan to…
Mark and I started running together last December. We joined Rundividual, a fun run sponsored by the Ateneo De Manila Junior Marketing Association. It was my first 5k run. Before the race, I thought it’s also going to be my last. But I was wrong. Running is fun. Running is healthy. If you have 2 functional feet, there shouldn’t be any reason for you not to be able to run (jog or at least brisk walk).
In Filipino, they’d say “pag gusto, maraming paraan. Pag ayaw, maraming dahilan”
I can think of a lot of reasons not to run. First, I have too much on my plate now (and I don’t see it getting emptied soon). Second, I’d rather rest after working than run. Third, walking all the way to Ayala avenue (a few blocks away) just to run is not something to look forward to and the list goes on…
But I have bigger reasons to get up on my feet and run.
I had been sedentary for the past two years and I am at my heaviest today. I’m 4′ 10″tall with a weight of about 112 pounds and a BMI that reads “normal”. Sure, you might say I’m not fat and I shouldn’t be concerned about my weight. But losing weight is not the point of me wanting to run. It’s about having a healthier lifestyle. I don’t want to be sedentary anymore. I need to do something that will make me sweat and get my metabolism up so I don’t feel weak, sleepy and bloated all the time.
It’s about time I do something good to myself.
This year, I plan to eat, sleep, run (and work in between). I am making this as a sticky post so I am always reminded of it when laziness kicks in.

I wish there are fun runs here at my province as well. =).
Where are you located? I think there are running events in the provinces too.
