SOPA/PIPA Explained on Video
As a WordPress user, I have the habit of checking Freshly Pressed everyday. When I checked it this morning, I saw all these black boxes with the word CENSORED. When I tried clicking a box, I ended up looking at a protest against the Protect IP Act (PIPA).
Because this is the first time I heard about SOPA/PIPA, I immediately thought “What do all these have to do with a small time blogger like me who doesn’t even live in the United States?”. Then, I saw this video and everything became clear.

Hey 2011, You were Awesome.
Hey 2011,
You were awesome. Saying goodbye to you was like watching the end credits of a wonderful movie go up the screen. I didn’t want it to finish but I know I had to move on. Of the 27 years I have, you are my favorite.
Because I do not want to forget you, I will do a month-by-month year-end blog, something I’ve never done before. Here goes.

January Highlight: Bone Thugs n Harmony Concert
January
After 8 long months of living in Texas, I am finally home! This is our first picture of the year. I arrived in Manila on January 8. After dropping my things at home, Mark and I went straight to a hotel in Makati and prepared for that night’s Bone Thugs n Harmony concert.
Some time this month, Mark and I went to Anvaya Cove in Bataan where I met his friends for the first time.

This month, Mark and I celebrated our birthdays in Puerto Galera, Mindoro. This is the first time we went on an out-of-town trip on our own. Continue Reading »
A Different Kind of Christmas
Last year, I spent my Christmas with my mom and dad in Texas. This year, I spent Christmas (for the first time in the 3 years we’ve been together) with my boyfriend and his family in Antipolo.
Christmas, they say, is a time for giving. We give gifts to people we love; we give time to attend to parties so we can be with our families and friends. Christmas is a time for people we love. But a house in Antipolo does more than just serve food and give gifts to their families and friends.
Every Christmas, Tita Marlene, my boyfriend’s mom, opens her gate to the poor kids in their neighborhood and host a party for them. Mark said, it is a tradition so old that kids don’t need to be reminded of it or invited. A day before Christmas, kids would go to their house and ask about the time of the party the next day so they can dress up and put on their nicest clothes.
I got the chance to see it this year. While I was mostly just watching what was going on around me, it warmed my heart to be there, to see all these kids happy.
When we got there, the kids were playing ‘stop dance’

Last Minute Christmas Shopping
This Christmas, I didn’t have enough time to buy gifts. So, like the hundreds of people who just started their holiday break, I dragged myself to the mall for some last-minute Christmas shopping (mostly of food for the simple Noche Buena I am going to have with my boyfriend and a gift for my dad). Man, there were lines everywhere! I saw long lines from the entrance of the mall, to the escalators, ATMs, baggage counters, cashiers and gift wrapping services.

Christmas Rush!
